Hey! Brian here. I know I haven’t been posting as much as I should, I’ve been busy with my full time job and karting with CIRKL (California Indoor Racing Kart League | FaceBook Fan Page | Official Website | Spring 2010 Results) for the first half of 2010. Although I finished 5th in the Lightweight division and 7th out of 28th overall for the Spring Season of 2010, I felt I needed to find another channel to hone my karting skills.
I will continue my karting ventures with CalSpeed’s Super Series Championship for the remainder of the 2010 karting season. This is a brand new series that was created to fulfill the need for passionate karters who were all disappointed when Dromo1 of Orange County closed down last month.

CalSpeed Super Series Championship
Kickoff Event Scheduled for July 10th!
The CalSpeed Super Series is an individual based ‘Arrive & Drive’ racing program that incorporates both Sprint and Endurance Racing disciplines towards an overall points championship. The season will be comprised of 5 event dates in which both a Grand Prix Sprint Series Race and an Ironman Endurance Series Race will be run at each.
Essentially both races will be run independent of one another meaning that a driver’s performance in one will not affect the other. Events will run once per month on Saturday mornings. Drivers may opt to contest the championship in only one of the disciplines and are not required to participate in both races if they so choose. After all 5 events have been completed, points standings will determine both a Grand Prix Series Champion, Ironman Endurance Series Champion, as well as the coveted combined Super Series Champion.
GRAND PRIX SERIES: Entry Fee – $100 / Event
- Up to 36 Entries will be accepted per event.
- Events will be ballasted to a driver weight of 190lbs.
- Karts can accommodate 40 lbs of ballast, drivers requiring additional ballast must provide their own.
- Drivers will participate in a 5 Lap Qualifying Session, Two 10 Lap Heats, and a 15 Lap Main Event.
- Points will accumulated for finishing position in every on-track session.
- Karts will be randomly drawn before every session.
IRONMAN ENDURO SERIES: Entry Fee – $150 / Event
- Up to 18 Entries will be accepted per event.
- Events will be ballasted to a driver weight of 190lbs.
- Karts can accommodate 40 lbs of ballast, drivers requiring additional ballast must provide their own.
- Drivers will participate in a 15 Minute F1-style Knockout Qualifying Session.
- Qualifying will be followed by a 45 Minute Ironman Race which will require one pit-stop at any point.
- Points will accumulated for finishing position in both Qualifying and the Race.
- Karts will be randomly drawn before every session.
SUPER SERIES (both combined): Entry Fee – $195 / Event
- A special combined Super Series Registration price of $195 per event will be offered to all drivers who opt to compete in both races at any given event.
- The best 8 of 10 points results will be used to determine the Super Series Championship. This means a driver’s two lowest scores will be dropped if they have competed in all 5 events / 10 races.
- A Masters Championship will be calculated within the overall Super Series Championship for all drivers 40+ years of age within the calendar year.
